Thanksgiving is a time to look at those who have nothing

By Jamez008
No matter what is going on in my life, the Holidays always make me reflect. As the year draws to a close, I see all the things that I missed doing this year and the things I did accomplish. 2008 will go down in my mental notebook as the year of overcoming the fear of flying. MY brother had a show in Washington, DC. We couldn't get a seat on the same flight. So, with much trepidation, angst and sweat, I boarded the Jet Blue 1 hour flight to DC. It was quite difficult. I was covered with sweat as I landed  but hell I DID it! Anyway, last August I went to Florida to visit some friends.  I got to shoot down to Disney for a few days, then hang out at the beach!
Then I get  to thinking about how troubled our world has become. When you come right down to it we ALL have something  to be grateful about. Sometime the world seems so dam frustrating: Wars, poverty, hunger, disease, etc. So anonymously helping  is always a good thing to do in life.
Lets all "get out of ourselves" and  help someone have a happier thanksgiving?

President Obama?

By Jamez008
Democratic Senator Barack Obama , from Illinois, was raised without a father figure, yet was able excel and graduate from Harvard Law.  Why was it that this black man from humble beginnings was able to prevail where so many others have failed?  Is this a question many fatherless black males are asking themselves. I highly doubt  it. Do these poor males, go to the library and read about the man they are going to vote for? I highly doubt it. Win or lose, Senator Obama SHOULD be a role model for the for those tidal wave of directionless, angry males in our society today, whatever their nationalities might be. Take that anger, frustration and rage. put it to something positive, go make some money! Most men that are successful in our society will all tell you the same thing. That got to where they are today, regardless of class or living arrangements, from hard work.  They go to work no matter how they feel, work their 8 hours, come home, go to sleep, to finish out the work week.
When  did America lose the slogan "you have the right to work hard" to "freedom is having the government take care of you?" What nonsense!  The USA will never be a socialist government.
Most younger men and women for that matter don't take advantage of LIBRARIES. Obama would agree with me on this point. If your teachers aren't teaching you, go to the Library. The best tool we all have is our brain.  If you listen to black leaders all across the USA you will all hear them say one thing: "Education of our youth should be our top priority." So will the youth of America sit down read a book over playing video games? I highly doubt it.

THE POLICE- SPLASHCAST

Desiderata- by Max Ehrmann

By Jamez008
I love this poem by Max Erhmann- I typed it here for all to enjoy! It is obviously not created by me.
"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace the may be in silence
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all people
Speak your truth quietly and clearly ; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be a greater and lesser person than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in changing fortune of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue is, many persons strive for high ideals and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love for in the face of aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as grass.
Take kindly to the counsel of your years, gracefully surrendering to the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirits to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond  a whole discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the Universe, no less the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever you labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

Things that make you go hmmmmmm? Elections 2009!

By Jamez008
Yeah I know it is year when were are all thinking about the coming presidential elections, so you have to ask yourself, does my vote really count? More importantly, what does my vote count for?
They say, "history has a way of repeating itself."  I agree with that to a certain extent. Not many people thought Modern day Muslim terrorists would do and accomplished what the bushido bound air combat worriers at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Unfortunately, I think we are inevitably in for more terrorists attacks in America. I also feel that no matter what President we have or had, could stop America involvement in the Middle East conflict. The plump oil companies have made it impossible for us not to actually. I always ask myself why in hell haven't car companies been forced by our governing bodies to at least give us car that get well over 50MPG. Only now that gas is over $4.00 a gallon do we pressure them? Makes no sense to me.  Most of all our President(s)  should be really be frowned upon for not insisting that it should have come to fruition during Reagan's era? What about other  "brilliant" predecessor's? Why haven't didn't they DEMAND better gas milage? Why didn't they make sure the consumers received it as well? I hate the fact that Americans are still tethered to the oil "teet."  We used gasoline in cars a hundred years ago. Why are we still using them today? Are American just too lazy to give a sh%$? So yeah color me skeptical about who IS in the White House. The question is what do Americans get out of the elections? I think it becomes less and less a true concern for candidates, no matter how much they lie to your face. After all isn't being President all about deception? Every single president we ever had lies their asses off to us. At this point we shouldn't really be surprised any more, no matter what party is the offender. Lying has become the rule, not the exception.  So you can take comfort in the fact that YOUR party is tried and true; you are just deluding yourself. The way  I figure it is life is way too complicated for it to be some up in nice saying to the public. " I WANT CHANGE?" Ya so does everyone else pal. Can you do it? Are  you Moses? Can you part the sea of BS in our world? Hell no! Either can anyone else! If the economy get much better does it have to do with the President or is it more like, "the current trend?"  I go with Graphs and trends(computers) Mr. President, not you.  Remember too that our next President has to do constant battle with the House of Representatives- http://www.house.gov/ and the Senate-http://www.senate.gove/.  Which to me seem a real pain in the ass. Who would even want a job like that, really? A masochist? How about when all of our last Presidents leave office? What a joyless time for them huh? Everyone in American ends up hating them... "Hey You want a job in running the Free World but when you done every hates your guts. You will just love everyone in Washington, DC too. Expect tobe the butt of every joke for the next 20 years! Hurry, Hurry pal sign on the dotted line! Hey don't forget every nutcase from here to timbuktu will be gunning for ya' paly(EVIL GRIN). Now there is a job with benifits!"
The people with the real power aren't in Government at all. It is all about Wall Street!

My party is the independent party, Freedom from all government control including the right to ever get elected! Doesn't Ron Paul look like Geppetto crafted him out of wood? So, I do like wood, it comforts me. So, HE comforts me. Thus, Gepptto's Protege gets MY vote! After all, Presidential races aren't about politics. They have everything to do with POPULARITY. You know, like those idiots you went to High School with. Mr. and Mrs. POPULARITY had everyone in High School always in a constant state of adhesion, right? Didn't everyone want to be just like them? Well I sure as hell didn't but most people did right? Those same feeling epitomize our society today. Who is the most POPULAR on "dancing with the Stars(I never watch it), the most watched YouTube Video, who one "Has American got Talent?" Or the Soul "Survivor( I ALWAYS end of despising this person)!"
Presidential races seem to be parody of our favorite shows. It all makes me kind of nauseous. No matter how well the future Presidents dance, after 4 or 8 years, the political shredder takes its toll and viola, the guy is TERMINATED! Maybe he will say..."I'LL BE BACK?"

A little kindness, goes a long way.

By Jamez008
Like it or not, we all live in a fuel injected society. Things seem to be moving quicker every day!
People drive faster, talk on the cell phones 24/7 , spend way too much time at their computers, worry about rising costs and probably sleep less and less. This isn't a post about telling you what to do, rather just a friendly reminder,  being kind to one another, goes a very long way indeed.
Opening doors for people and not reacting even if they don't acknowledge your act. Next time someone cuts you off in traffic, don't get mad.  Let it go, completely! Smile in the fact that  you are working on YOUR bad driving habits. I know it is a clique but life is all about getting something bad and making good of it; get lemons, make lemon aide. If someone is taking too long in a line, think about something that will get your mind off of waiting.
More men get into traffic problems because they "value" their space around them. Work on this, it might save your life one day. My new favorite thing to do while driving is to wave at people with darkened windows.  Why not lurkers need love too!!
